Canadian golfer Mackenzie Hughes took first place at the Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper, earning a $121,500 prize.

At Highland Springs Country Club, Hughes, 25, shot a 24-under-par 264 to beat Richy Werenski, according to PGATour.com.

“This is the hardest day of my life,” Hughes told PGATour.com of his first Web.com Tour win. “I’m so proud of the way I hung in there. I had to dig so deep. The thoughts were going crazy in my head.”

With the win, Hughes moves to No. 14 on the PGA money list from his previous No. 88 spot.

The Aug. 11-14 tournament at the Springfield country club was the 19th of 21 regular season events on the Web.com Tour.

In December, PCCC officials presented $900,145 to 44 Ozarks children’s charities.

Last year’s donation total was the second-highest in the tournament’s history.
